Families including mother and fathers can benefit from the participation of grandparents in the parenting role. Raising children can be a rewarding and challenging task for any family.

Grandparents' Role

As proud first-time grandparents, the Reynolds family of Vancouver Canada, is embracing their new role and voyage of discovery that their grandson Luke has taken them on. In an interview with Suite101, Grandpa Doug says, “We hope to be the best grandparents we can be, and therefore we thought it important to observe, experience, research, and read as we head into this new adventure.”

Of course the Reynolds family picture albums have expanded as photos of Luke at every stage are being added to their visual library. They even have developed a term for those special Luke expressions – they are Lukisms! Grandpa Doug and Luke have a regular Wednesday “play-date” when they read together, dig in the dirt, splash each other with the garden hose, play with toy trucks, or go for walks to the playground. Luke has added more laughter to this household.
